City/Cité Cultural and Professional Exchange Program

City/Cité Cultural and Professional Exchange Program

A professional experience for students to inspire exchange and innovation in urban planning and architecture.

The City/Cité Professional and Cultural Exchange program includes a combination of collective experiences (seminars, conferences, workshops, and site visits) and individualized internships at preeminent Parisian firms (Chartier/Dalix, Studio Gang, GRAU, and others). Throughout the six-week internship term, participants also collaborate with French students of architecture and urban design.

Eligibility

The City/Cité Cultural and Professional Exchange Program is open to students enrolled at American universities regardless of their nationality or proficiency in French. Selected students will work closely with an English-speaking supervisor.

Undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students may apply. Applicants must be in possession of a valid passport issued within the last 10 years and valid for at least 3 months after the intended departure date.

Students at all American universities are eligible and encouraged to apply. Priority will be given to applicants enrolled at universities that take part in the French Embassy’s Centers of Excellence network or are recipients of Franco-American funds.

Financing

The program fee is €350 (approximately $400).

This affordable price is made possible by Clayco, Lamar Johnson Collaborative, the French Embassy in the United States, and FACE Foundation.

In addition to access to all planned programming, the fee covers health and liability insurance, pre-registration for a local transportation card, and logistical support from the French Embassy in the United States and University Gustave Eiffel.

Studio apartments at the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris’ Maison des Arts & Metiers are available to all participants at reduced cost.

Airfare is not included in the program fee. Selected students are encouraged to seek funding from their university.
